Racing in Ripon
Throughout the year there are a number of days when horse racing takes place at nearby Ripon Race Course. Also nearby are the courses at Catterick, Thirsk, Wetherby and York so that on any given weekend in the season one of the local courses will be racing. Tickets for Ripon Races can be organised by the Hotel for guests booking and requesting them in advance.
Lightwater Valley Theme Park
Set in 175 acres of country park and family fun. Enjoy the white-knuckle thrills of the worlds biggest roller coaster - the Ultimate, the Rat, and the Wave or, for the less adventurous, there is the Ladybird, the steam train, boating lake and the children's visitor farm. A great day out!
Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal
Sheltered in a secluded valley only 2.5 miles from the hotel lies one of the most historic and beautiful places in Europe. A World Heritage site, the property contains over 900 years of history with a 12th Century Abbey and Deer Park, Jacobean Hall, 18th Century Water Garden and Victorian Church.
Ripon Cathedral
In the Cathedral of the Yorkshire Dales you can see one of the oldest crypts in Europe (672AD), almost every style of architecture, choir stalls which are 500 years old, a treasury, a newly created gallery (1994AD); you can hear one of the best choirs in England and you can be assured of a very warm welcome.
